However, i have considered donating them to the canadian war museum, and their archivist told me that their preference would be that the letters be in the original envelope. At least, because i have used your method, they will be easy to put back in the envelopes!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6361263046826593234.post-79392053942993808332024-03-07T18:13:10.699-08:002024-03-07T18:13:10.699-08:00After putting them in sleeves, I put them in binde...After putting them in sleeves, I put them in binders. I could not get the photo out - it was very tight. When I finally managed to get the photo out to see the material behind it - surprise! It was a heavy paper folded which proved to be exam grades fm a boarding school the brother & sister went to in Livermore CA late 1890's!! Priceless and hidden - too easy to throw away. I won't be putting anything behind photos.<br />My cousins.Lindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17745229462658250515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6361263046826593234.post-51386855070757826182024-01-03T16:18:26.901-08:002024-01-03T16:18:26.901-08:00Karla, so glad you have a plan! I would suggest that you either put the photos in archival sleeves and tuck them in the album near the page they came off of. Or you can put the photos in archival sleeves and using plastic paper clips, clip them to the pages where they go. Please do not use any kind of adhesive. Hope this help.sMelissa Barkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04637869234542557494noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6361263046826593234.post-47198662353088496372023-12-15T09:39:09.807-08:002023-12-15T09:39:09.807-08:00I recently got a set of five albums that were my g...I recently got a set of five albums that were my grandmothers and she wrote notes on the black pages so I would like to re-adhere the photos that have peeled off with age. Are acid-free sheet protectors made with sections like 4x6 or 5x7. I am not sure how to store the envelopes with the letters. The letters are on narrow note-book paper and are written on the front and back in pencil. There are many receipts for things like land payments or payments for hogs, mules, hats, etc. The letters were correspondence between a mother and sisters with their two brothers who were stationed in France in WWi and in a military hospital in Georgia. Please advise the best way to try and organize all of this information. She isn’t listed on any census as a child. She was never married and didn’t have any children. My grandfather did not know her name but knew she existed that she worked for the YMCA in Louisville. Luckily she was the informant in both her separated parents death certificates. I found her living together with her mother in Louisville city directories. Lastly, I found a newspaper article celebrating her 50 years of service with the YMCA. It was an exciting find. And really fun to share the info with my grandfather. She married my 4th Great Grandfather, William Tait, while he was a missionary in India. She traveled by herself to meet back up with William in the United States and endured many hardships and deaths of children. She eventually made it and continues to leave a legacy today of strength, faith, and devotion to family. It’s incredible!
